Japan Luggage Planner

Work out when to send your suitcase, when to store it, and when it needs to travel with you.

Where should your bags go?

Plan ordinary suitcases between Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and the main Tokyo/Kansai airports.

Bag measurements

Use the largest measurements across your bags, including wheels and handles.

Let your suitcase skip a stop.

Send it ahead, leave it for a few hours, or keep it with you. Your dates decide which options are worth checking before you book.

Plan a handover, then confirm the service

This tool screens dates and ordinary suitcase measurements for Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, with departure-airport options for Haneda, Narita and Kansai. It does not book a delivery, check locker availability or quote a price. Hotels must agree to receive and hold your bags. For other regions, unusual items or specialist services, ask the carrier directly.

Yamato’s standard delivery guidance describes next-day or two-day delivery, with exceptions. Airport delivery has separate sending and collection rules: this planner uses three days before your flight as a conservative target, but the actual cutoff and pickup conditions must be confirmed. Same-day express services are not assumed.

Standard size screening follows Yamato’s published size and weight limits; counter, contents and upright-only restrictions still apply. The train note follows JR Central’s baggage guidance. Source rules checked September 27, 2026.
