Japan Packing Planner
Choose your cities, count your wash days, and leave with one packing list for the whole trip.
Pack for the whole route.
A warm afternoon in Tokyo and a cold morning in Kyoto belong in the same bag. Add your stops to get one checklist, with quantities that match your wash days.
How this Japan packing list works
Add your overnight stops in travel order. The planner counts travel days once, includes both months when a stop crosses a month boundary, and combines your clothing into one list. Quantities are per adult and include the outfit you travel in. You can tick off items, save a plan in this browser, or print it to PDF.
Weather context uses Japan Meteorological Agency 1991–2020 monthly normals, processed by JAPANODE; the local dataset was retrieved on July 10, 2026. Averages are not predictions for your travel dates. Check a current forecast before packing, especially for snow, mountain trips and exposed coastal areas.
For specific outfits, see our autumn clothing guide and winter clothing guide. If you want to travel with a smaller bag between hotels, use the luggage planner.
